Sliding Scale, Sustainable Therapy at Wild & Rooted
‘We are the leaders we’ve been looking for‘ Grace Lee Boggs
I hold a dedication toward offering long-term therapeutic work, that moves with life’s ebb and flow. While I deeply respect the placement and need for short-term support, this is not what I offer. With that in mind, it feels vital to offer sustainability in regard to accessing therapy long term, and finances are central to this process.
The sliding scale below is designed to be held in the spirit of care and trust. I offer three pathways of payment: Oak, Birch and Willow, each are like different parts of a forest, reflecting varied lived realities rather than implying hierarchy. There is also a Pay-It-Forward option and an option for an arranged amount to be agreed that might sit somewhere between pathways.
Oak Pathway
For those whose roots feel steady and deep.
Life feels financially comfortable, and you are able to participate in this space with ease. Choosing Oak pathway can also help hold space for others, supporting accessibility for those on the Birch and Willow pathways.
Session fee: £90
Birch Pathway
For those whose forest sometimes feels dense or tangled.
You manage day-to-day life, but finances, work, or care responsibilities can feel heavy. Choosing this pathway allows you to make space for healing without overextending.
Session fee: £70
Willow Pathway
For those in tender or fragile seasons.
Life feels stretched or uncertain, and resources are limited. Willow pathway is held gently to ensure access to therapy when it is most needed.
Session fee: £50
Note: Spaces on the Willow pathway are limited to ensure the sustainability of my practice.
Pay-It-Forward Option
If you are in a position to do so, you can choose a Pay-It-Forward contribution above the Oak pathway fee, helping to hold therapy places for those who need access onto the Birch or Willow pathways. This allows more people to engage in therapy and nurtures a sense of community care and shared support.
Third-Party or Subsidised Payments
There are times when therapy is funded or partially supported by someone else, such as a family member, partner, or organisation. When sessions are being paid for in this way, the pathway chosen should reflect the financial capacity of the person or organisation offering the support, rather than your own. You are welcome to share these pathway options with them so they can select what feels appropriate and sustainable.
Choosing Your Pathway
I trust you to choose the pathway that fits your current reality. This is not about value, worth, or “better” or “worse”; it is about matching what you can give to what you need. I just ask that you let me know before we book in any sessions which pathway is possible for you; if for some reason there are no spaces available on that pathway, we can explore what might be possible. Please do feel free to ask for an amount that sits between pathways if that feels best.
A Living, Growing Practice
This scale is not fixed; it grows and shifts with the seasons. Spaces may expand or contract depending on demand, resources, and capacity. It is part of a conversation about equity, care, and accessible long-term therapy.
With deep gratitude, respect and acknowledgement to Alexis J. Cunningfolk for inspiring this approach and writing so beautifully on the topic.
