The Body Mapping Way

Listening to the language of the body

‘This is your body, your greatest gift, pregnant with wisdom you do not hear, grief you thought was forgotten, and joy you have never known’. Marion Woodman

Body Mapping is a gentle and creative way of tuning into the stories your body holds. It’s a process of slowing down, listening closely, and giving shape and colour to what often lives beneath words.

In a Body Mapping session, we begin by tracing the outline of your body, not necessarily the whole body, sometimes just a particular part that feels important to focus on. This might be a place where sensation, memory, or emotion seems to live. Using simple materials like pastels, paper, and symbols, we make space for whatever wants to be seen or expressed. It’s not about creating something ‘beautiful’, it’s about allowing something true and raw to take form. To move the intangible into the the tangible world.

This work can support you in making sense of where things feel stuck, disconnected, or tender and where there is strength, flow, or ease. It can be especially helpful in reclaiming body awareness after trauma, or simply in deepening your sense of embodied presence.

You don’t need to be ‘good at art’, just willing to be curious. Body Mapping can be woven into longer-term work or offered as a one-off session.
